How Coal is formed...

Coal is a fossil fuel because coal is formed from the remains of dead things and many years of vegetation. The element that gives coal most of his energy is carbon. After many years sedimentary rock would form together with it to create its rocky form, and that is how coal is created. Now the energy that it gives off after being burned is called coal gas and can be made from burning it.
